A Pennsylvania debt collector conducted fake court hearings in a mock courtroom in its offices and even sent uniformed officers who appeared to be sheriff's deputies to serve civil subpoenas demanding that consumers appear for "hearings" and "depositions," the state attorney general's office contends in a lawsuit. Intimidated consumers allegedly provided their bank account numbers and even turned over the title to their cars. The action seeks an order from a real state court freezing the assets of Unicredit America Inc. and prohibiting the company from continuing to collect debts or conduct further proceedings at its Unicredit Debt Resolution Center in Erie, according to a press release from the office of Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett. |
according to what I have seen on this, they had everything--a fake judge, fake sheriff's deputies....they would have people served, or even picked up and brought to "court"....people there were ordered to provide bank account information, and in some cases even titles to automobiles....WOW....
To anyone here--and you know who you are, that has tried to claim that validation is just a stalling tactic used by "deadbeats", or that debt collectors arent the ones breaking the laws....think again....

Amazing. I wonder why they didn't add kidnapping to the list of charges, since they were picking these people up against their will. When you think you've heard it all, something like this comes along.
It's really good to note that finally their assets has been free

Thanks for sharing these important information with the forum members. I don't know when the the debt collectors will stop playing dirty tricks.
here is what's scary
if the AG has enough to pursue this then everyone at UNICREDIT needs to be behind bars as what they did was a major crime.we are talking felony here as impersonating judges, and officers is just that.that is what's scary.
Fake Court
I actualy heard that this one could not only end up in lots of criminal charges, but also all of the past collections being returned and then cancelled. If you have dealt with them, contact the PA Attorney General's office immediately.
Nice Post Skydiver
P.S. Michael J. blinked quickly. I am still not sure if I should refuse thier offer and go for a cash settlement or not.
