A judgement was brought against myself earlier this year. Despite living with my parents, I'm not on the title and I haven't been claimed as a dependent in years.

First, is this even legal?

Second, what can my parents do?

Thanks.

The first thing I would do is go to the office of the clerk of the court where the judgment was rendered, and review the entire record of the proceedings. Did the judgment stipulate any authorization of means for satisfaction of the judgment? Has the prevailing plaintiff filed for a writ for execution of the judgment? What authority was given by the court for attachment of any assets in fulfillment of the judgment? What authority was communicated to those for which attachment is being sought?

Creditors cant just inform parties that they are attaching your property or assets.
