Hi, I'm a new poster, but I've been following the board for a few months now...I have approx 40,000 in cc/loan debt...I stopped payments in July...calls are driving me nuts!!! Have been to attny to ask about Chap 13 and am also considering settlement....I am so confused!! I really don't want to file bankruptcy, due to the fact that I would be in a Chap 13 plan for 5 yrs with a purposed 465$ due twice monthly if I get into a 100% payback plan..I'd be about as strapped in a BK as I was without and barely making the minimums!!!! But, I'm scared to death of lawsuits, garnishments etc!!! :-( I'm new to this and dont' feel sure enough to tackle settlement on my own yet...does anyone know or has anyone heard about Greenfield Premier Services or can anyone recommend a decent settlement company????? I looked at Greenfield, because they don't charge any upfront fees.....
thanks,

Lisa

Hi Isumm,

You should note that as per rules, none of the debt relief companies can now charge upfront fees for the services that they will be offering you. You can find a list of debt relief companies from the given page: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/companies/usa-listing/ . You can take a look at this list and chose any company after going through their website and customer reviews in order to solve your debt problems.

Take care.

Hi,

It isn't a bad idea to try doing your own settlement. You can get a list of sample settlement letters at the following link.

http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/letters/

You can use these letters to settle the amount you want with your creditors stating them that it is impossible for you to make more than a certain amount. this amount should be about 40% to 60% of your total debt.

wish you luck
