I cannot afford to pay my credit cards

Hello I have been up to date on my credit cards (min payments sometimes but it was something). I moved back home for personal reasons and was jobless for little over a month. Some of my mail did not get to me and when I did get a job finally, it can not make the payments that I was able to before and now the bills are pilling up again. My credit got shot in the foot and I feel like I am a sunken ship. I only owe a grand total of $9,000 and I know that is not much for some people but it is a huge amount for me. I want to become debt free because I will have my student loans to worry about really soon and this all is really putting pressure on me. Do you know of a great debt settlement company that would not rip me off or any recomidations that I can try?

Dont waste your money on a debt settlement company....settlements are easy to do yourself. You have to be disciplined and save your funds each month and start attacking one loan at a time.....

In my opinion, you need to call your creditors, explain your situation, and try to negotiate some sort of payment plan with them that you can afford.

In my opinion, you are much better off doing that yourself than hiring anyone to do that for you. The creditors are more likely to respond positively to you psersonally, as their customer, than to a credit repair organization. No personal touch there. You are asking them for help. I would do that directly.

Yes, it would be much better for you to try and manage the debts on your own rather than getting the help of a settlement company. Other than this, you can try to talk to the creditors for getting a repayment plan and if that does not work out, you can consolidate the credit card debts. This will help you in lowering the interest rate on your debt and also in doing away with the several payments you are now making against the several credit cards that you have.
