I had a payday loan in 2006 in Va for $200.00. I paid on this for about 7 months til I moved to NC, I had every intention of paying the payday people until I started seeing the bill was doubling now tripling. They are now calling me for about $800+. It is in the hands of a third party billing company number beginning with 404 and they are claiming they are investigators and that I may have committed fraud. I had talked to them and even tried to work with them on the bill for $800 on the phone til they told me what I was going to pay and when. I then told them I wasnt interested and to file whatever they wanted and we would go to court. They called alittle later about a month and this time it was a deputy saying he was bringing me papers and serving me. I waited for three hours on these papers and now it has been over three months. They called my 82 year old grandmother with cancer the other day telling her the same thing they were investigating me for fraud, of course she was so upset and called me. I dont care if they call me but why are they calling and then stopping for months at a time? If they are going to charge me with something why is it taking so long? Please help I'm fed up with these people.

These are common tactics of illegal, offshore payday lenders.

If you paid for 7 months on a $200 loan, I'm sure they actually owe YOU money.

Ignore their calls and tell your grandmother to do the same. This is FRAUD!

Report them to your state's Attorney General and your local police department using the number they're calling from.

Who was the lender, by the way?
