can anyone tell me about IAG creditors? The person I spoke to was very misleading on the phone he stated it was a bank account that was closed. I did some research with the bank that he had said, and the bank knew nothing about it. Come to find out after another call to him it was for a payday loan from 2 yrs ago and they are trying to sue me for 3000.00 and want to persue criminal charges for bank fraud..which I dont understand the original payday company is E Payday Loans from somewhere in ny I did it online and didn't know that in my state of NC it was illegal. the original amount of the loan was 350.00 and I paid 105.00 of it. what can I do to get this taken care of and can I go to jail or have criminal charges brought against me? IAG wont give me any information other than the name of the original creditor.

Do as soaplady said, report them to the AG, your State financial regulatory commission, etc. If they call again and you do feel like talking to them, do not admit to owing anything over the phone, but if they think you owe them money, they MUST send you something in writing about what is owed and to whom. Otherwise, when you hear their dulcet tones on the phone, just hang up.
