I am in the process of working my way thru payday loan misery, and this morning received a call from a Mark Oliver. He did not tell me where he was calling from, said something about signing for a certified something or other, regarding upcoming lititgation, blah blah blah. However, I can save myself if I call this mediation firm and talk to them, still hasn't told me anything about where he is calling from or who is calling for. This was all left on my voice mail. The number he gave me to call is 877-690-4915. I googled it and it says something about selling insurance in GA, or something like that. Did he give me a wrong number, does anyone recognize it?
Thanks!

This can be scam call. If you are facing a financial crunch and cannot pay off your payday loans, you should contact a professional debt relief company and take their help in consolidating or settling the debt. Moreover, you should first check out whether or not your payday lenders are licensed to operate in your state. If they are not licensed, then you will be liable for paying them only the principal balance. Also, they won't be able to take any legal actions against you. As far as the number is concerned, I'm not sure about it.

It may be a scam jjsmom. You don't need to pay any money now. I have googled the number. However, no substantial information is available. If Mark calls you again, then ask why he is calling you.

To make sure whether or not your pdl companies are licensed in your state, you may check out the given page: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/explain-pdls-laws.html
If the lenders are licensed, then you will have to pay both the principal and interest. In such a case you may try to arrange a better repayment plan with them. You may also enroll in a payday loan debt consolidation program which will help you to replace your multiple bills into a single monthly payment. Otherwise if they are not licensed, then you can get rid of the debts by paying them only the principal amount. I searched on internet but couldn???t find any information against this number.

Call him back. Ask what he wants. If it's a collector for a PDL company, tell him to FOAD. If he's collecting for anything else that you feel might be legit, tell him you're waiting for a letter of collection and you'll respond accordingly once you receive it.

Thanks for the advice, I know all but one of my lenders is not licensed, I have sent my letters, I did call and they answered National Mediation Services, although it was after hours by the time I could call back. I googled that and nothing came up that looked like it was legit. I knew these calls would come sooner or later. I really appreciate the feedback.:p
If they call again and it turns out they ARE calling about a PDL
If they call again and it turns out they ARE calling about a PDL, don't admit over the phone to owing anything, but tell them they MUST send you something in writing. (I believe that is Federal Law, someone else might want to correct me?)
update
Morning All,
He called me three days in a row threatning to come serve me with a notice of intent to something or other. Yesterday he called at 8:15 stating he was coming today as this was my scheduled day to be served (How dumb do they think people are? They don't tell you they are coming) Anyway I waited all day and guess what? Nobody came, have not heard from him yet today so I guess I will continue to wait.
Just got a call from the same number
I have a feeling that this is a scam. Did you ever hear from them again? I had somone about a month ago telling me the same thing, and I filed with my states attny. gen. office, and have not heard from them again. it sounds exactly the same.
Have not heard another word and of course no one ever showed up.

Same thing happened to me. Worse case scenario it is a civil matter, and you would be notified in advance. The call I got said "I am suppose to serve you these legal documents" they did not even verify who I was other then by my first name. They try to bully people into giving them money. File a complaint with the attny generals office, and the FTC. If they tell you they are going to serve you, and then dont, that is another violation against them.
I had my ex get several PDL's durring my divorse. I ended up closing down my bank account. I cleaned up all the ones I knew about, but about once a month somone comes out of the woodwork with a threateneing phone call. My biggest mistake i belive was paying the first one (because i was scared) I have since educated myself and found that what they are doing is against the law.
Hope this brings you a measure of peace.:D
