Great Sky and White Hills payday loan
Date: Tue, 10/25/2011 - 08:47
For White Hills, I originally borrowed $305. I had to file an extension for $91.50. After reading around on the board, I'm confused. I live in Ohio, and I read it's illegal for them to charge me an extension fee? So that $91.50 should be added towards the balance of the $305, correct?
Same with Great Sky, who keeps harrassing me at work. I orignally took out $500, and now my balance is up to $650 with fees. Again, is it illegal for them to charge me $150 for extension fees?
Please help!
Thanks,
Kara
Great Sky is not legal in OH. I've never heard of White Hills.
Great Sky is not legal in OH. I've never heard of White Hills. Was this a storefront or an internet loan? Is that the full name of the co. or do they have a DBA?
Regardless, you need to close your checking account and get a new one.
Follow the advice in this thread to learn how to deal with illegal lenders. You will find sample letters and other useful information, shared experiences, etc. For the Great Sky loan, anything that has been debited from your account so far, can be subtracted from the $500. That's all you owe them, no fees or interest are payable. If you???ve already overpaid, ask for a refund. Be sure to include ACH debit and Wage Assignment revocation language when you send your letter.

Since Great Sky is not licensed to operate in your state, so you are required to pay them only the principal amount. Illegal lender won???t be able to take any legal action against you. Ask them for the refund, if you have paid them more than the principal. Close your bank account asap to stop unauthorized withdrawal.

Thank you guys so much. I meant to put that Great Sky was who I originally got a loan from, and they sent me an email saying they were changed to White Hills. Yes, shady. I got the loan online. I did pay what I owed (and they settled on this yesterday) so that account is paid off. Supposedly.
As for the other loan, it was with Seaside Payday. Which is weird because when they call it says "Bayside Payday." I also spoke to someone yesterday who agreed to just let me pay a "settlement" amount. Which ends up being just what I owe them anyway.
I hope it all works out so I can be done with this mess!
Again, thank you so much for all of your help!

I'm sorry to bother you guys again. White Hills of course debited my account after being told I paid my account in full. I'm being told many different things by different people. I filled out the complaint letter revoking ACH withdrawals, and I'm contacting my bank now to close my account. White Hills does not have a fax number, so should I scan the documentation and email it to them?
Thank you again for all of your help.
yes email it but
seeing as though both are illegal in ohio white hills most likely will try to debit again.so close that account asap.when you go to your bank see a manager.nobody else.they will help you with this.then follow the link ohiogal gave and use that info.it has template letters and anything else you need to get this illegal out of your life.

Thank you. I emailed them since I couldn't find a legit address (For White Hills/Great Sky). I said I'd pay the $62 I owe on the $305 principal amount I borrowed. I got this response:

And this is the response I got when I said I'd pay the remaining $62 on my principal balance:

BS
they want to fight you on it.very well all "tribal lenders"do at first however they can't report on your credit, and if they do it can be easily removed.are you sure you still owe them?sounds like when they debited after the fact that should have been deducted as well.doesn't matter as long as you follow the sticky and give the wage assignment revocation letter.they are basically powerless.when they call hang up without a word.once you totally secure yourself they can do nothing but call and be stupid.

Thank you, Paul, and everyone else. I contacted my attorney general's department of commerce and left a message with them.
Does the same thing go for Seaside Payday? I don't see anything online as far as them being licensed in the state of Ohio, and they too are tribal. I'm assuming I only have to pay them the principal balance as well?
Thank you ALL SO MUCH!

Ok, update here:
White Hills (great sky) backed off after I sent the letter and quit calling me. After constantly standing my ground, they settled on my remaining $62 balance on the principal. Which who knows if I even owe that after fees, but whatever.
Now for Seaside, I sent them the letter revoking ACH withdrawals (they don't have my bank account info anymore, anyway) and also stated that I will not answer any phone calls. I will only "talk" via email/mail. They haven't responded to my email. I wrote it last Friday, October 28th.
The collection guy who is a huge jerk still keeps calling my work. I'm assuming there's nothing I can do about this, considering they're illegal to begin with, correct? I don't answer when he calls. It's just annoying that I keep getting harassed by him... And what do I do if they're didn't respond to my letter?
Thanks again!
