Fwq questions about DV & debt collectors

I'm still involved in the process with that collector, but seems once one comes out all the sharks decide to circle.
I had 3 credit cards that I had to stop paying on when my business went down hill about 2.5 years ago.
I've now been contacted by two other collection agencies for my other two credit card debts. The 1st is being collected by Northland Group Inc on behalf of Chase bank.
I sent a DV letter by certified mail on Oct 12th which they accepted on Oct 17th. As of this time they have not responded to my DV. Yet today I get another collection attempt from them in the mail with no acknowledgment of my DV request.
My question on this one, is I DV'ed Northland Group but I didn't send one to Chase. Should I also DV them? Chase took over my old Washington Mutual account that was already in collections when WaMu went under.
Now on one hand the payment offer they have made is somewhat reasonable and if they worked a bit with me I wouldn't have issue paying it, if they can validate the debt. The other issue is the negative mark from Chase would still be on my credit report even if I pay this collections firm.
The other collection agency is from Portfolio Recovery Assoc, LLC.. from a card I had with Household Beneficial. I haven't DV'd this one yet but Household was the original card issuer and I'm pretty certain they can validate.
The debt is pretty small on this one and I can easily pay it off, but again it's the issue of the negative marks remaining on my credit history. Meaning it's not beneficial for me to pay it off unless they can do something with the original debt owners reporting on my credit history.
Anyone know if it's common that they can get the original debt owner to update with the rating agencies? I'd just assume work out a deal to get these two paid off if they can also remove the negative marks on my credit score.

Pay for deletes rarely happen. You can ask but don't be surprised if they refuse. They're required by law to report your account accurately. The fact that you defaulted is accurate.

They're not statutorily required to report anything to anyone; rather, they're only required that, if they choose to report, they must do so accurately. Their subscriber agreement with the CRAs requires them to decline PFD offers; which they usually do, but, depending on how compliant the CA, there are exceptions.

Hi dce,
As you have sent the debt validation letter to Northland Group, they are in no way supposed to contact you over the collections without validating the debt. Do you have proof that you mailed the letter? I mean, did you send it CMRRR? If yes, make a copy of the papers and file a complaint to the FTC and the State???s Attorney General reading this. In the meantime, send another DV letter to them mentioning that you had sent one before too and that they cannot try to collect without validating the debt. However, Chase is the creditor and you cannot send validation letter to a creditor. Moreover, there???s no way you can remove the negative against Chase from your credit report.
As for the second one, send a validation letter to the collection agency. Or if you are sure about the debt, which you seem to be, you can simply get a payment agreement on the debt and pay off the debt as soon as possible.

Yea as for northland group, I sent them a certified receipt requested DV on th 12th which they signed for on the 17th. However now that I look at the 2nd letter it's dated the 14th..
So seems they must of squeezed a second one out before they signed for the DV as I didn't think to look at the date.. Oddly it took some time to get here being it was dated the 14th but I guess the storm we had up here in MA last week might of slowed things down a bit.
As for the reporting, that kinda sucks and seems to put me at odds of trying to settle a debt. I mean it's close to 3 years now so as far a credit agencies score, it's almost as if they are working against people trying to settle their debit as ity seems it's almost more beneficial to just wait for it to drop off.
Seems kinda dumb, that you don't get any sort up bump for trying to settle your debt even if they are late.
Oh???if that is the situation, I think it would be best for
Oh???if that is the situation, I think it would be best for you to wait for some days. If you receive no response, you can send the second DV and then go forward with disputing the debt. In addition find out the Statute of Limitations in your state.
