Portfolio Recovery Update
Date: Tue, 11/29/2011 - 09:25
Hi,
I posted a few weeks ago regarding this company and how they bought out my old debt. I sent them a DV letter and sent a complaint to my Attorney General about them harassing me at work (even though I sent a cease and desist letter) and calling after 9pm on the weekends.
Well last night I received a letter from Portfolio Recovery, and it stated this:
"Dear (my name),
Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC ("PRA") has concluded its investigation of your dispute and is closing your account. If PRA is reporting this account on your credit reports, PRA will request that the three major credit reporting agencies delete PRA's trade line for this account from your credit profile."
I was pretty happy. And I wouldn't have know how to handle this had I not come to this board.
:D

Is there anything you suggest I do? Should I call capital one still if they have already charged it off? I'd like to be proactive about it. I realize I messed up by letting it get this far after so long.

If it is in collections it was charged off a long time ago. Collection agencies dont get accounts until they are charged off. It this is a Cap One account you can be pretty well assured it will be assigned to another agency.
