Refused an online credit report
Date: Tue, 12/27/2011 - 20:23
I tried to get an online report from one of the agencies & got told I'd already gotten one from them for the year. (I've NEVER gotten one from them.)
So, I tried to get an online report from another agency & got told I'd have to mail in a request, due to security reasons (or, some such language).
It's almost scary to think I've maybe been "had" by fraud.
TIA, if someone can give me a clue as to why I have to mail in a request & why I got told I'd already gotten a report from the other one...when I have NOT.
I can't get to the third one until May, when the year on that one is up.

Thanks, but...that's the path I took. It's the only path I've ever taken.

Generally, when you get your annual report from annualcreditreport.com, you get one from all three agencies. You may have only viewed the report from one agency, but you likely generated a report from all three. If you had one in May of 2011, that's why you're being refused another one now. That's also why the other agency is likely requesting you mail a request, since you've already received an electronic one this year.
Problem 1/2 solved :)
Thanks. I've always separated my reports out to where I get them every 4 months...rather than all at the same time.
I tried TransUnion, again this morning...no problem! Last night, it was the one that stated I'd already gotten their report for the year. Guess I'll wait 4 months on Equifax rather than get it thru the mail. (They're the ones that stated I needed to send for one.) Might've/musta just been a glitch, somewhere.
TransUnion's was spot on, soooo...I guess the "scary" part is over. :)
Thanks again!
