WWFNB and Spiegel Catalog
Date: Thu, 01/05/2012 - 10:03
I called WFNNB regarding my returns and they stated that if items were returned prior to June of 2011, they were not considering them. So I told them that they need to send the items back because I was not paying for merchandise I didn't possess. No response.
Called Spiegel numerous times regarding the issue. Finally a employee of Spiegel, told me over the phone that they were going to make a note of it and not to pay it. I then repeated this to WFNNB. They stated that Spiegel needs to contact them directly. So currently I supposedly owe $274.88 in fees and interest, etc.
WFNNB calls me at least 3 times a day, very early in the morning and late at night, 7 days a week. They never leave a message. I only know they have called by a call log.
What can I do?

Hi and welcome!
OK, what state do you live in? Also, you said "early in the morning and late at night", could you be more specific about times? The law allows that they can only call you between 8 am and 9 pm your local time. if they are calling outside of that time, please let me know.
You need to contact Spiegel and request that they put it in writing that you did return the other items. you want this documented, because no debt collector will take your word for it. It may also help if you can go back and obtain shipping information for the package you returned. If you say "I returned those other things", it doesnt mean much to them. but if you can say "I returned those other things, here's the return shipping info right here", then you have a leg to stand on. But I think your answer to this one lies in being able to show that you did indeed send those other items back. Oftentimes, the original creditor's left hand has no idea what the right hand did, so to speak, so the billing folks never get the word that you returned the items. I would work those two things at the same time--try to get Spiegel to admit that you sent the items back and get it in writing, and also try to hunt down shipping information for the package you returned. If you can get even just one of those, you should be in good shape, but even better if you can get both.
