Hi, I'm about 90 days late on my Target Visa card, which has a balance of about 5k. I haven't seen much about them on the forums. Does anyone have any experience with them? I'm hoping to settle, but would like to know what to expect. I have a few cards that are 90-120 days late, but the best offer I've gotten so far is 50% counter offer from Citi, after my 20% offer. I'm hoping if I hold out they will go lower. I haven't approached Target with a settlement yet.

Thanks in advance for any info!

Update for anyone dealing with Target:
At about 120 days late, Target sent my Visa account to a collection agency. From what I had read on the internet, Target doesn't usually settle for less than 50% and they do sue, I personally know someone who was sued by them. Working with the CA, I was able agree to settle at 40% in four payments. This was my first card to settle, still have Discover, Citi and Chase... can't wait to get this financial nightmare behind us!

That's good you made a settlement with your Target account.

I never delt with Discover (Heard they play tough ball) or Chase but I have with Citi. Citi plays tough ball with settlements. They won't go below 50% and most of the time it's 60%. They would only offer me 55% and my account was at 180 days. I told them I couldn't do that. They charged it off and now I'm dealing with a scum bag CA. I hope I don't frighten you with what I just said. I just hope your prepared to deal with a scum bag CA.

I currently have a 50% offer in 3 payments from Citi and I'm close to charge off. You're making me rethink this offer. However if I settle at 50% with them it's going to hurt my chances to settle the other two right now due to lack of funds, not to mention that I'm really nervous about getting sued by Discover. Good luck with the CA, I'm very interested to see if you are able to get them to settle. I lucked out with a good CA with Target. I worked with the same agent and called her daily to let her know I was really trying to come up with the money to settle. However, it was my first settlement, so I'm pretty clueless!

You still have 2 tough ones left on your plate, Disco and Citi.

Chase should be pretty easy, I did 2 at 35% and another 2 at 30%. Ive even read some recent settlement as low as 15%, although I take a grain of salt with everything I read.

Citi took 40% in the summer for me, but it was a Sears card, not sure if that matters. Good Luck.

I had four accounts that went to CA's. 3 were Chase for amounts of 5,000 , 12,500, and 13,000. One was with Discover for 13,000. Client Services had a Chase account for 8,000 and settled at 25%. Viking had a chase and settled at 40%. United had the Discover and settled at 50%. In addition United also had a Chase and settled at 40%. Each CA had the accounts for 30-60 days. Sometimes you get a great deal sometimes just a fair one. I felt I did good. Good luck to you.
