Hi --
I had a quick question -- my old navy acct went to collections two weeks ago --I called them this weekend and gave them my contact info, house address and home number --I then explained my situation which they didn't want to hear -- they just said they want payment in full -- 2100 -- I said I didn't have it but I offered a settlement of 500 -- they said fine but we need to update the "file" with your work info --

I said no way -- I don't give out my work info -- I am not allowed to take calls or get correspondence there -- then they said that I was being uncooperative and would mark the file refused to pay if I didn't give them the work info --
any thoughts?
thank you

The collector is required to collect all of that information...it is part of their job. When you applied for the card, you had to supply all of that information. If this is third party collections, the collector is required by the client to gather all the information. If you have nothing to hide, give them the info with a clear cease and desist on all work calls.

thanks for your post soaplady -- I always regard your opinions highly --

I know they did say the same, about the original application, however, I am at a new job and with the economy being the way it is and my credit being what it is, I am leary to have any problems at my new job. I don't have anything to hide, but don't want to risk my job. Not in this economy.

I understand what you are saying, if I were there longer, I would feel more comfortable about that, but for now, I cannot give out that info --
I know if it goes to court, I will have to divuldge that, but at that point I will have to deal with it
