Can i get sued for a payday loan?
Date: Tue, 01/10/2012 - 09:04
I got a payday loan from a company called BCD LLC group for $300.00 and I leave in NJ. I paid 90.00 and then closed my account when I realized that that was only the finance charge and they were going to try to take more then I borrowed. I sent letters to the AG, BBB and other agencies. I received a letter from a debt collector and I spoke with them and told them I was willing to pay $210.00 and that was it. They said it was not good enough and I didn't hear anything for about a month. Today, I receive a call from some law office in Missouri saying that I now owe $660.00 and I have to pay it by the end of the month or they are going to file paperwork. i refused and the women said that they are going to file paperwork today with my employer. Can I be sued or is this another scare tactic? Pleas help:mad:

Payday loans are illegal in NJ so you only owe the principal. An attorney in MO can do squat against you....send them a cease and desist telling them that the debt is ILLEGAL!!!

You may want to protect yourself by sending a wage assignment revocation. Simply send an email to the company telling them you revoke any wage assignment you may have signed. Then give a copy of that letter to your payroll/HR department at work.
