Since your lenders are licensed in Louisiana, so you will have to pay both the principal and interest. If it???s impossible for you to pay back the full debts, then you may enroll in a payday loan debt consolidation program to replace your multiple bills into a single monthly payment.

When you say "they are legal in Lousiana", do you mean pdls in general or do you mean the specific lenders from which you borrowed? Just because pdls are legal in your state does not necessarily mean that your lenders are legal in your state. It would be helpful if you list the lenders you used and how much you have borrowed and paid to each one.
If you used online lenders, there is good chance that they are not licensed in your state in which case you would only be responsible to pay back the principal amount. If they are storefront lenders, changes are they are licensed, in which case you are responsible for any interest and fees. The good news is that lenders that are legal are generally more willing to work with you and set up extended payment plans.
Most states have a listing of legal lenders on the attorney general's website, so start there. If the lenders that you used are not listed on the AG's site as being licensed then proceed with filing complaints against them, open a new checking account, close your old one and send ACH revocation letters to the lenders. Good luck!
don't assume please
i say that because loanshop online is not legal in LA so how do you know the others are.rocky is right.we need the following.
1)names of the other lenders
2)amount borrowed from each
3)amount debited by each thus far
4)internet or storefront
answer those and we can help further.btw spaceblank pdl consolidation/settlement is a sham, and a scam.if a lender is legal they will work with the person.if it is not then they won't work with these places so do not advise that.
My PDL info
Here are my lenders, all are internet:
Lakota Cash, $600 borrowed, $180 paid in interest only
Loanshop Online, $500 borrowed, $1350 paid INTEREST ONLY
CashNet USA, $300 borrowed, nothing paid yet
Star Cash, $400 borrowed, $120 paid interest only
Go Cash, $500 borrowed , $720 paid in interest , $50 towards principal
So I actually just finished up with one, so all I have is 5. Just going over all of this is embarrassing, I just kept having to borrow again just to pay my rent and utilities. I actually just tried to call Loan Shop Online and talk to them about this, but all the guy did was tell me I shouldve just paid it back all at once! ha, thats a lot of help.
okay
here is complete breakdown for you.
lakota you owe 420.00
loan shop owes you 850.00
star you owe 280.00
go cash owes you 270.00
those are all illegal.cashnet is legal, but they will work with you.go to ohiogal's sticky on illegal lenders at the top of this very forum.stop the cycle now and get control of your money back.
Thank you
Thank you so much! I am getting started right now. So not to question you at all, but you are 100% sure those are ALL illegal?? I just do not want to get into any legal trouble with these people. If so, I am stopping this today. Thanks again for all your help, this is such a great thing y'all have for helping people.
yes
the only legal lender is cashnet.
lakota is tribal
loanpoint and star are not based in the US
finally couldn't find a license for go cash.so yes all but cashnet are illegal.close that account and keep us posted as they will lie and get nasty.we can help there as well.
on it
I am heading to the bank first thing in the morning to block all transactions from those companies. Got my letters typed up as well. Thank you again so much, I will keep you posted, though I hope I dont have anything more than they are cooperating with me to post about!
One down
So it's been since Tuesday afternoon since I sent the emails to the respective PDLs, but the only one to respond so far has been GO Cash, and here is what they said:
Your account has been noted but as of now no refund will be issued.
Thank You,
Joe
Really? Joe?? Anyway, I followed every step from Ohio Girl's post, but could not close my bank account since I am still awaiting my tax refund. Instead I put a block on my account from each of the companies. So what should my response be to GO Cash, and how long do I wait before hearing from the others?
don't back down
they said"as of now"resending your original email once a day.that oughta do the trick.
Lakota
Okay, so a collections agent responded to me and said that I owe $810 ($600 principal, $180 interest, $30 for telling them I put a block payment on my account?). She also referred me to this part of the loan document which I signed:
"This Loan Contract is subject solely to the exclusive laws and jurisdiction of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. By utilizing our website, you are conducting business on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation, and subjecting yourself exclusively to the laws and jurisdiction of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, a sovereign Native American Nation. By executing this Loan Contract, you, the borrower, hereby acknowledge and consent to be bound to the terms of this Loan Contract, consent to the sole subject matter and personal jurisdiction of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Court, and further agree that no other state or federal law or regulation shall apply to this Loan Contract, its enforcement or interpretation.
In this Consumer Loan Agreement (hereinafter, the "Loan Agreement,") the words "you" and "your" mean the borrower who has electronically signed it. The words "we," "us," "our" and "Lender" mean Payday Financial, LLC, a lender organized under and authorized by the laws of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and Indian Commerce Clause of the Constitution of the United States of America."
How legit is this, and what should I say in response?
