Credit Card Debt
Date: Sun, 02/12/2012 - 07:32
My husband and I are retired and live on pensions and social security. We bought into the debt settlement program of Consumer Law Associates two years ago. We have paid them over $6,000 for their services. They have settled one account. We have two more, but listening to Nancy Grace on tv one night we decided to stop with them. We have asked for our funds back that we have in a savings type account. They have said we probably won't get any funds for their services back. Now we need to know how to go about choosing the right service to settle the other two credit card accounts which have doubled in size since we started two years ago. We can't afford the $650 per month we were paying to the debt relief company. Also, 85 dollars of the 650 was paying CLA. We don't know how to proceed. Can you help us? Are funds are limited but we don't want bankruptcy.
