I have a verizon account that was opened more then 10 years ago. After a dispute for early termination fees, I stopped paying. I am looking at the credit report and shows that it went to two different collection agencies but the time is very recent. I thought the account should be kept from the time the account was opened and not when a collection agency takes over. Is this legal?

thanks

I did get that. That is the reason I am concerned. I haven't made a payment since 2003 yet the credit report shows recent activities and no where on the report shows the account itself information but only collectors information dates which are from this year.
