Hello,
recently i was summoned by a collection agency for an unpaid hospital emergency room visit i made last year and three years ago. i called the agency and set up monthly payment plans, when i asked them if the case was still going to go to court, they said that it was 'just in case i decide not to follow up on my payment plan', i also asked them if i needed to answer the court summons officially and they said that i did not.
so i guess my question is should i just continue on and make my monthly payments or should i reply to the summons and go to court?
also in the summons they sent me, it showed i am being charged interest. from some things ive read in trying to research what i should do, ive read that they cant do that, while some have said that they can. if anyone can shed any light on this i would be appreciative. thanks

Even with you making your payments, they will get their judgment. It is important that you show up in court and ask for a contingentcy judgment which will allow you to make payments without them garnishing you or levying your bank account. You just can never miss a payment.

As for interest, most hospital or medical financial agreements that you sign do include interest. Judgments also are interest bearing.
