i have emailed them a letter stating that their loans are illegal in my state of Florida and this was done in November 2011. I am 4 months late paying them already. I filed a complaint with the FOBR but he said they couldn't do anything, but said the loans were unenforcible and that if I didn't pay them back there was nothing they could do. Now, I noticed that my FICO score has dropped by over 40 points and I have been declined for a couple of credit cards. My question to you is it legal for these companies to report to the credit bureaus and if not what should I do?
Credit report, score
You mentioned that your score has dropped - how do you know that (have you seen all 3 reports recently?) If not, as you were denied new credit/creditcards, you are entitled to a free report from the agency they based their denial on (got one of mine today. got another one a few weeks ago)
Also, PlainGreen (even though illegal in FL) does report to the credit bureaus as I only inquired into a loan (did not get one w/ them) & they are on my credit report as a 'Hard Inquiry'
Before asking you too many questions, curious as to what you credit report say (any of the 3 PDL listed and/or any collection agency on their behalf listed?)
{FL OFR only sent me form letters too & when I called to ask follow-up questions, they never returned my calls!}
Illegal PDL companies cannot report to the credit bureau. Check
Illegal PDL companies cannot report to the credit bureau. Check your credit report carefully and recheck the legal standing of these PDL companies. There might be some minor discrepancy which has impacted your credit score.
You both were right. I checked my annual free credit report and
You both were right. I checked my annual free credit report and I don't see any of the above lenders on it. I do show a charge off that is the reason that my score dropped.
But, today I received an email from plain green loans titled: Final notice-loan past due saying that if I didn't call them immediately and make payment arrangements they would be selling to a 3rd party for collections. This is the first email that I have gotten from any of the lenders since I stopped making payments in October 2011. It says I owe $1222.9 on a $600 loan. I made one $212 payment in September. Should I call them and make payment arrangements?
