Hi, my husband just pulled his credit report and it has a repossession on it (original creditor is Ford Motor Corp.) from his now ex wife. At the time the car was purchased, he was stationed in Germany and she was in Texas. He was responsible for half the payments, which he was sending to her every month. She wasnt using the money to pay the bills and the car ended up being repossessed. She did nothing to get the car back. She still lives in TX and when he came back from Germany, he moved back in with his parents in PA, which is the address he uses now. Pinnacle bought this debt and is now trying to collect on it. I believe they contacted my husband back in late 2009 and my husband panicked (not knowing what it was for, but they were threatening him, that he owed like $25,000!!) they were asking for 3,000 that day or else they would contact his commanding officer (hes in the Army NG). He told me what happened, and he never contacted them again after that. I believe at the time they contacted him the SOL had already expired. I recently sent a DV letter to Pinnacle not realizing that maybe it should have been a SOL expiration letter. The date opened according to his credit reports is 4/2005. What should I do now, wait to hear back from Pinnacle and if they validate, send them an SOL letter, stating that they can no longer collect on the debt?

Not sure what to do now... confused and worried!

Thanks all!

Hi everyone,

Im not sure whether or not he signed the original paperwork, but this morning when I went into the dispute area on his experian report, its says it was repo'd in 12/2005, charged off in 1/2006, 30 days late as of 11/05, so Im taking that this car was sold in 1/2006. It also notes that this debt will continue on record until April, 2012. Being that I already sent the DV letter, should I just wait and see what happens in April? Can the DV letter restart the SOL and what happens if Pinnacle doesnt take it off his report in April? Just not sure what our next step would be. Thanks everyone!
