Well, if you really don't understand your credit report, then you can show it to a reliable friend. He can explain the details to you. You can get help from a credit repair company to get assistance in cleaning up your credit.

To qualify for a mortgage or a car financing, you will have to improve your credit score. You are required to repay your all dues and make all payments on time. Try to add positive information on your credit report. This will help you to improve your credit score gradually with time. Usually negative items remain on your credit report for 7 years from the date of your first default.

I have found so many places online and dont know any reputable companies. I have a bunch of smaller credit card debt from the past few years. Then there are my school loans that I defaulted but then was able to consolidate. But things appear a lot of time and there is so much info on each report that it is overwhelming. I want to be able to try to get them to delete things. My gap and old navy account appear as negative accounts and I dont know why. On my old navy acct I have a late payment reported once since 2006. My credit score is 587, and I'm scared of making it go lower because I dont know what I'm doing. I have a couple thousand from my tax return and I want to use it to clean up my credit but I want to do the best possible since I hear that they can report it certain ways that can make it worse.
lexington, skyblue, and innovative are ones I found online but I don't know if they're any good.
There are lots of free credit counseling agencies out there.

My advice to you is to first and foremost....understand your credit report. And then tackle the negative remarks. If I may, go to your nearest United Way. They are amazingly helpful in this area....oddly enough. And they can help get some financial education/training as well. My other suggestion would be to find a local church and go sit down with the pastor.
Please do not give a credit repair company your credit report, time or money. There are too many online companies who will scam you. Try the above recommendation first.
Good luck

Hi,
There is nothing that a credit company can do which you cannot do it yourself. So, why would you waste your money? With that money, you can pay off some bills (if there are unpaid ones) and improve your credit score. Along with this, analyze your credit report and dispute negative items, if any. This will also help you improve your credit score.
I just want to encourage you to not be afraid to fix your credit
I just want to encourage you to not be afraid to fix your credit score yourself. In this way, you'll end up being very aware of what you should do to repair credit. As said above friends, you can ask friends who can help you and find out information via the internet or other sources. I believe, the result will be amazing.
