I too agree with my previous poster. If they are legal in your state, then you will have to pay both the principal and interest. But you can get rid of this trap by paying back only the principal, if the lenders are not licensed in your state.

Sub: #1 i have 4 pay day loans help!
Replied on 03-20-2012, 03:48 PM
I took out 4 payday loans last year and I live in NH. Just wondering if anyone can help me out. I think I have over paid on all of them. I had to stop my direct deposit on my bank and just left the account open with no money going into it. I'm so scared that I will get in trouble. Here are the loans i have:
american web loan for 500 on 10-5-11 started paying on 10-26-11 bi weekly payments of 150
anazi group for 200 10-13-11 started paying back on 10-26-2011 bi weekly of payments of 60
united credit line for 300 on 11-21-2011 started paying back bi weekly payemts of 121.90 and then on 1-6-12
i took and additional 700 out and they added it to the 300 i already took and then started taking bi weekly payments of 402.79
which i paid twice and then also paid an additional 800 towards it to get the payments down
cash web usa for 300 on 11-29-11 starting paying back on 12-21-2011 for bi weekly payments of 96.00
I have made these bi weekly payments on time everytime until mid feb 2012 and then I had to stop my direct deposit b/c I
just couldn't handle the payments any longer. I never closed the account out bc it was in a negative status and they
still try to take the money out every week. What do I do ?

This is the response I got back from one lender
We respect a consumer who researches the services to which he/she uses. With that being said when you applied for and agreed to the terms of the loan, it would have behooved you to read the complete contract you agreed to with The Anasazi Group. You are a citizen of NH, however the contract was not made in NH. The contract was completed via the world wide web, the governing law (clearly outlined in your contract) which you agreed to by your legal e-signature are the laws of the jurisdiction in which the lender is located. When you spoke with Carmella on 10/12/2012 at 3:25pm CST, she clearly outlined how the loan works and what the finance charges were, yet you still accepted the loan.

We would be willing to settle with you for the principle amount remaining on your account. We could initiate the debit to your account of $200 on your next due date of 4/11/2012. If making one payment to payoff the principle isn?t possible for you, then another payoff arrangement may be available. Please call to let us know how you would like to proceed and ask for me directly. If I am not available, then please request a supervisor. You can also have the debits stopped on your account by placing a stop payment on our debit. This will result in your being sold to outside collections.

What do I do now?
Lunadakota88, follow Ohiogal1's link
in her signature in the post above yours.
Those payday lenders are NOT licensed in your state so they can't legally lend to you or any other New Hampshire resident. Add up what you've paid back so far, deduct the amount you had loaned from them, and if there's a surplus in your favor, request a refund of the overpayment.
That's basically what Ohiogal1's advice is. Do not be intimidated by the Anazi/Anasazi Group. They don't have a leg to stand on and they know it.
please
let me weigh in on this.you need to respond this way:
seems as though you don't respect me.how else do you explain that nonsense you sent.the world wide web?you really think i'm that stupid?i guess so as my state laws apply here, and i paid over 600.00 on a 200.00 loan.if anything i'm owed 400.00.i am filing AG,AND FTC complaints against your wonderful selves and anybody that attempts to collect this.i trust my position is clear.
respond that way as it just irks me how illegal pieces of garbage try to buffalo and BS people.btw file the complaints if you haven't already.that's important.

So I wrote back stressing the loan was illegal and I overpaid. Here is how they responded:
After looking over your account the lender has agreed to apply the last 3 finance fees towards the principal and pay off the principal. please note that your account has been set to a denied status for any future loans.
Should I just leave it alone and not ask for my money back??
Also how do I send out those complaints you mentioned?
I havent heard back from any other lender either. Should I email again?
Please respond to above message. I am now getting phone calls. S
