Hello, I've searched through the PDL threads and the site itself but I haven't been able to find a clear and definitive answer.

I've now received several phone calls from debt collection companies after I sent out my letters stating that their loans were illegal.

Vandelier group which is illegal in my state (CA) stated that they would accept my payments and apply them towards the principal but would not issue a refund. I've repaid the principal plus $125. Two weeks later and they've referred me to a collections company who is telling me since I signed online they do not have to abide by the state of California.

This is part of the email I received from Vandelier and is what the collection company is using against me:
"You are a citizen of CA, however the contract was not made in CA. The contract was completed via the world wide web, the governing law (clearly outlined in your contract) which you agreed to by your legal e-signature are the laws of the jurisdiction in which the lender is located"

From what I've found on the forum threads is there is no such thing as "internet law" I explained this to the debt collector who researched and called me back and told me that since the contract was signed on the internet that I was agreeing to the terms of their operating state.

Is any of this information valid for the state of CA? If not, could someone please direct me to the thread that lists my next steps for getting this taken care of. National Credit Adjusters (NCA) is who is pursuing the debt and they are calling me everyday at home and at work I need it to stop!!!!

Hi,
Vandelier Group is one of the other names that the illegal tribal lender Anasazi Group works under. None of what the collection agency stated in their communications is true or valid. You, being a resident of CA, are subject to the laws of CA. As mentioned above, do send the collection agency a cease and desist letter. It will put an end to further harassment.

Cheers,
Nate

good luck w/ (vendelier) them.
