I received a call from a collection agency about a debt from 2003. They are threatening to report it on my credit report. I never admitted that it was my debt and told them that the statute of limitations applies. They then told me that I mad a payment to them last april and now the statute of limitations extends to 2017. I never made a payment to them. I asked for proof that I paid on this account and they said they will send something to me. I have not received anything yet. Should I worry? What can I do? Thanks

Have you sent a dispute IN WRITING??????? A dispute is not valid if you simply verbally tell them you are disputing the debt.

You say the debt is from 2003. When was your last payment?? What state do you live in? Have you checked your credit report???
