While residing in NC I took out a $200 pdl through TENDOLLARPAYDAYLOAN.COM in 2008. That debt was taken over by Morgan & Associates, LLC. At the start of 2010 I began paying off all balances from my 3 credit reports. I was unsuccessful at locating Morgan & Associates for a while when they finally got to me through my sister. I paid them $363.82 and got a paid in full letter dated Nov 2011. Since then, I've received several calls concerning that very debt. Each time I tell them I paid and have a letter and they apologize. Recently, my dad began receiving phone calls for me (which is crazy because none of our numbers are the same from 2008). Then, I received a phone call telling me to call a number and give them a case number, which I did. I ended up talking to Gordon of TPS & Associates. Things went downhill from there. They have a lot of accurate and some inaccurate info about me. They also appeared to be fishing for more info (i.e. my current address, my bank name, $$$$, current employer, etc). I did not release any of that information. I told him I had a paid in full letter and he told me that the loan was funded from various places so it was possible I still owed some people money. He told me if the account number from my letter matched the account number he had then all I needed to do was send them a copy. Well, of course he gave me some numbers that he probably made up. He also told me that TPS got my debt from the SSM Group and that Morgan & Associates, LLC is a subsidiary of the Bahama Marketing Group. I told him I don't have a physical address to receive court papers. His response was that then I would miss a court date. He said my only two options are to voluntarily pay the money back or be made to do so via court. I was also told that if I had a lawyer, he/she could call and talk to Gordon.

Since early 2010, I have cleared all but 2 of the balances that were on my credit reports. My credit score has increased and I have not created any new negative debt since 2008. I am happy to pay my debts, when I do in fact owe them. I do not want to be swindled out of my hard-earned money. Bottom line is I only did one pdl in 2008 and I paid it back and then some in 2010. My gut is screaming scam! What should I do?

I just went to the www.paydayloaninfo.org site and discovered that now (and at the time in 2008), it is a prohibited/illegal thing.

Prohibited (N.C. Gen. Stat. 53-281 authorizing payday loans allowed to sunset in 2001)
Citation:
The consumer finance act applies. N.C. Gen. Stat. 53-173

But does this apply to me since I did my pdl via internet?

nate is right.tendollar is a MTE/MNE d/b/a,and not affiliated with BMG at all.just shows as shazzers posted in her posts that illegal pdl's,and the slime that collect for them share info, and chances are they got your info from them.you paid a place you really didn't owe.file AG,AND FTC complaints against the bottomfeeder, and against tendollarpayday.have anybody called by said bottomfeeder file police reports asap.then do this.ignore them!if you or anyone else gets caught on the phone.hang up without a word.that's it report and ignore.that's it.
