Hello fellow debtcc denizens,

There is quite a bit of development, enhancements and changes going on in the background of debtcc right now. Some of this will become visible in coming weeks.

Here are some items being worked on and items being reintroduced and tested:

The site navigation is being redesigned in order to enable visitors better and quicker access to the things they are looking for. With these nav changes will come some additional pages.

There will be opportunities for those visiting the site who are not of the DIY persuasion (no matter how much its in their own best interest), to connect with professionals such as:

  • Bankruptcy attorneys who charge below market rates on the coasts and average rates in lower population areas.
  • The ability to connect with national 501c3 nonprofit credit counselors for DMP's, HUD counseling etc.
  • Consumer advocate attorneys providing in court foreclosure defense.
  • No fee FDCPA attorneys.
  • FCRA violation attorneys
  • Credit rebuilding tools
  • My personal favorite - much more DIY content
  • And more

The forums will remain the same for the most part, though we will be reintroducing same page comment box ability.
We want to encourage site participation and grow the community. You all remember what the forum activity was like in 07, 08, 09. The goal is to reach that level of site participation and exceed it.
We will be allowing unregistered posts and running analytic data for a while to gauge the value of that beside the return of the same page reply box. I do know what mods go through with this and there are some early concepts being considered to dilute the PITA aspect of guest commenting should data suggest that path.

Social Answers may go the way of the dodo, or may be used as a tool to start a new thread.

I have read through about a years worth of the mod forum and have written down the suggestions I found. Please continue to make them.

Best,
Michael

Please don't do this. No other type of credit forum allows this and it just invites spam. The biggest issue is without registration, the poster has no clue that an answer has been posted. Let's face it...a lot of people stumble onto this site. Unless they bookmark it, they will never return. Quite frankly, a lot of our posters are not the brightest bulbs on the christmas tree and are pretty clueless. From my observation, this happens wayyyy to often. We spend the time researching the 13 loans they borrowed only to have them never show back up again.

Thanks Soap Lady. I totally understand the POV on this, believe me.
The only way to test new things is to open up the systems, run them, compare data sets, followed by making adjustments.
There are methods to tighten up the spigot of junk comment flow incrementally, and we anticipate there will be a need. Which tool and how tight to restrict the flow just cannot be determined with out experiencing full flow - set beside all the nav changes, page additions, and new discussions and site traffic that will result.

The captcha feature will not be removed in this testing - it is a complete necessity in today's active forum environment.

Some of the additional staged planning for the site will bring more awareness to debtcc. This awareness will bring additional person demographics to the site that we want here. Along with improved visitor demographics, I also hope to see some familiar screen names come back.

We appreciate everyone's patience with this testing and the changes and additions. Ultimately, all of this is geared toward a better more rewarding experience for everyone; casual readers, community members, mods, and most importantly the people struggling their way through a tough financial time.
