These people are very rude. They first called and spoke to me last night. They told me that they were going to file felony charges against me today if I did not give them payment over the phone at that minute. He asked if I would settle out of court and I told him yes that I would, but I needed a letter in the mail with the exact amount and I would get a money order out to them. I REFUSE to give out my banking info over the phone because of past ID theft. He then proceeded to get very rude and hateful towards me saying that they WERE NOT a collection agency and that they only would accept payment over the phone (which by looking at their website is a TOTAL lie), again I refused saying a money order would be in the mail the day their statement arrived to me. He then proceeded to say, "so you are refusing to pay this?" I replied that "NO I'm NOT refusing to pay this, I'm just not giving my banking info over the phone." I attempted to ask again for a statement and he hung up on me.

They called back 45 minutes later and spoke with my husband. The guy lied to him saying that when they spoke to me I told them that I didn't have the funds and was refusing to pay. My husband calmly told the guy that was a flat out lie because he was sitting next to me during MY phone call and heard the conversation and told the guy that I said if they would send me a statement in the mail that I would promptly pay this debt. The guy then got hateful with my husband and when my husband asked him to calm down, the guy told my husband, "TAKE A HIKE" and hung up on him.

I understand that I owe this debt, but it is very unprofessional for these people to call and harass us in our home like this. They do NOT know our financial situation and do NOT know what it was when this debt was incrued. My husband had lost his job and we were barely scraping by on his unemployment checks. We had to make a choice on what bills we could pay, basically lights, heat and groceries to feed 2 kids was all we could afford until he started working again. I felt bad that I couldn't pay my obligation when he was layed off, but then again...I had to make a choice to take care of my 2 kids. Now that our finacial situation is better, I'm agreeing to pay it but for these people to call us at home..lie to us..hang up on us..and call us names and tell us to take a hike...VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DOWN RIGHT HARASSING..YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO THAT TO PEOPLE AND I'M GOING TO SHOUT TO THE ROOFTOPS JUST WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS YOU ARE!!!!

You need to file a complaint with AG's office. These guys are in violation of the law. It is no crime for failing to pay your debt.

Also, if you both are on unemployment check, tell him to TAKE A HIKE because you are judgement-proof and any judge will dismiss their claim. I've been there and done that! When you are on unemployment or welfare, nobody can garnish your checks.

It's time for you to cover your base strongly and in legal terms against these collectors. They lie, cheat and falsely represent your accounts. Take a fight against them.

In Ohio, you have the rights to record the debt collection phone calls. You can do it secretly and there is no need to notify them. Attach a recording device to your phone and start recording the calls. Present it to your attorney and file charges against the collectors violating the laws. In this case, you are sure to win it and be compensated up to the extent of damages.
