Problem with paying debt.
Date: Tue, 06/05/2012 - 14:51
When first contacted, I explained the whole situation to AGS or whoever, and was told that they would not charge me any interest but I had to make arrangements to pay this account $50 a month automatically withdrawn from my checking account, which I did.
Yesterday, 6/4/2012 after 3 years and $1800, I receive a statement from Capital One on this account, saying I still owe them $2100 and change, charging me interest. On the statement, it clearly says this is a "non-interest bearing" account.
I called Capital One immediately. Their story is they don't have any records from 2009, and everything changed in 2010 and now they are charging interest, and apparently have been for the last two years.
This is just wrong, this was not my agreement with the debt collector, and the representative told me I have to deal with ASG, which is now First Source. I could really use some help on some ideas on how to handle this. Bankruptcy is out of the question.

I could be wrong but it seems to that you have been the unwitting victim of a scam. Did you receive anything in writing when you initially set up the payment plan with ASG? Pull your bank statements and check where the money has been going. Put a fraud alert on your credit report and talk to your bank manager about this ASAP. Call ASG and ask them to look into the matter. It could also be a simple case of miscommunication as well.

You are wrong Nathaniel....Cap One assigns its accounts out to collection agencies. Obviously payments have been applied to the OP's account...it sounds like their may be problems with the interest calculations.
No need for the fraud report.
thanks for responding
I called First Source today. After explaining everything the the representative, they waived all the interest charged. I did have to up my monthly payments, but that was alright with me, because I did owe them the money. I did ask for a written memorandum of this conversation.
Thanks for your help and advice.:):):)
