I live in Fla. and got a threatening phone call today that VIP Loans is going to start garnishing my wages. I was wondering if this was legal. The debt collector told me he was going to call my job and verify my employment. Can they really do this? He told me it was stated in the Terms and Conditions, that I really didn't read. I only borrowed $300.00 and now I have to repay $500.50. Is this legal or just a scare tactic?

VIP is an illegal offshore lender. You only owe principal, no interest or fees.

You possibly signed a voluntary wage assignment, not garnishment. You can revoke it.

"Dear VIP loans
I hereby revoke any and all voluntary wage assignment rights I may have signed for account number ______. I am also revoking all ACH rights under US federal law."

Email this letter to the lender and give a copy to your payroll department. Read the link in my signature line on how to deal with illegal lenders.
