PDL - Can they get to my savings account
Date: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 05:44
Hi - so I got into some PDL trouble but am glad that I found this site to help get back on track. I am in the process of contacting my lenders (which do not have license to operate in my state of Indiana).
My question is, can they get to my savings account to try to withdraw money. I opened a closed the account I gave them and opened a new one at the same bank. However, I unlinked my savings account and removed overdraft protection on my account. The manager told me the payment would be denied if they try to hit my new account since I am planning on only keeping a few dollars available (to keep the account open). During that start of my negotiation, I don't want them to be able to withdraw from my savings. I assume they can't but want to ask experts on this site. BTW - it is at the same bank.
I really appreciate anything you can tell me.

As long as your banker has assured you that neither the new account nor the savings account are linked to that old account in any way, you should be fine.Get it in writing, just to cover yourself. :)
