Can a Debt Collector call you with a hidden number?

I just want to know if it's legal for a debt collector to call and hide their number. I always thought it was illegal for them to do this. Isn't it against FTC laws? If it is illegal, please send me the link to read.
If this is illegal, how do I report it and to who? I'm tired of being harassed by a private number, I'm about to answer and curse them out!
well
blocking/masking a call is not illegal, but if they are calling your cell phone your provider should be able to block them.if nothing else they can change your number at no charge, but that should be a last resort.the illegal term you are thinking of is spoofing.that is when they mask their number with a local number or name.that is illegal.

FDCPA law requires that third party collectors identify themselves. It doesn't specifically speak to whether masking phone numbers is an acceptable practice. This is just my opinion and I haven't found any case law that would back me up on this but, I feel that if they're masking their phone number, their masking their identity, which is a direct violation of the FDCPA.JMO.
