These folks call3d me again today and say I owe 400.00 to Rio Resources. I have never taken an loan from Rio and when I told them that I wanted any corresponsdence in writing they claim they have sent me a notice and will not send another one. I am going to send them a valadation letter is there anything else I should do?

Does anyone have an address for United Legal? I just got a call from them at work and the woman started shouting at me over the phone. She wouldn't listen to me and then hung up on me. I want to send them a cease and deist letter. I also called the original creditor and told them I am filing a complaint against them with my consumer protection office because they turned me over to collection after they receive payment through my debt consolidation company.

Their Address is

United Legal Corporation
9000 Regency Square Blvd. Suite 1
Jacksonville, FL 32211

I Had the same thing happen to me. Lady called me repeatedly at work and yells. I have sent a validation letter but they haven't responded and they say they have sent me a letter prior and I never received it. I've never even heard of the company they say I owe money to.

I am going to fax it to them on Monday. I didn't have a chance on Friday. She wanted a specific time when I could call her back and I said within two hours. She said that wasn't good enough and that's when she started shouting at me. I scared the crap out of the original creditor when I called them too. I called my counselor at T & C and they were going to call the original creditor to help get things straightened out.

Stan,

I have no idea why the original creditor placed with the CA in the first place when they received payment from T & C on my behalf. Maybe they want more money or want to know if I am serious about the program. They have known about my situation since the end of the December. It was the CA who called me at work on Friday. T & C is going to call the original creditor to reinforce the debt consolidation program. I faxed a cease and desist letter to United Legal today. I also let them know I will only deal with my original creditor.

Mishele,

You are doing the right thing. No worry, things will be in your favor very soon.

Do you know if the consolidator settled the principal debt at a lower amount or not? Chances are OC has sold the remaining debt to this CA. Hope your consolidator will be able to fix this up. Keep us updated on this.

I forgot to call T * C today but I will do tomorrow for an update. I am curious myself. I was just happy to find the time to fax the letter in. I get really frustrated when I run into brick walls like this when I am trying to pay my debt off. I sent the original creditor an e-mail this morning but they never got back to me. Maybe I scared them? LOL!

So if the payday loan company is not licensed in your state how can they collect if you havent paid. How do you go about that.

rpatrickus,

Consumers should confirm the licensure of the creditor before dealing with them. Now once one has taken the money, I think it should be returned back somehow. If they lender is not licensed to lend money in your state and they are harassing you while collecting, you can tell them that you are aware of the licensing issues. So it will be better if they can stoop harassing and accept your payment plan.

Once the account is paid, stay away from these lenders.

These people are nuts that work there. I was hung up on too, twice. The next time she called I put her on speaker phone and recorded the conversation. I didn't owe this money either. It had been paid months ago. I think her name was Ms. George or something.

I just tried calling 800-992-9482 and I only have the option of entering my ssn. Then all it does is tell me my next payment is processing. I am trying to find out how much more these people intend on taking. I am already at $520 on a $300 loan. Any other numbers?????
