I have been offered a settlement that is reasonable but yet a good sum of money. A radio talk show host tells people who accepts settlements to get in writing BEFORE THEY PAY a statement from creditor requesting the credit bureau remove debt from credit file once paid.
Is this correct or is this a debt I should go ahead and pay regardless of having letter from them?

How old is the debt? Who's the collector? What type of debt is it? When is the last time you made a payment before receiving this settlement offer. Did you get an offer in the mail or by phone?
