i had a credit card thru bank of nevada and in 2008 i thought i made a final payment to this company and wrote final payment on check. i no longer have the check and cannot obtain it from the bank any longer. they are now trying to garnish my wages. they tell me it was interest or something. granted i did not respond to a summons but honestly feel this debt was paid. any help you could give me would be appreciated. thank you.

Since they are trying to garnish wages, it sounds like they already got their judgment. You could have gotten the bank records...the bank retains all information even on closed accounts. You could have gotten a copy...it might have cost a research fee but it has to be less than court and legal fees.
