letter and phone call from ARS National Services

I then got an envelope in the mail on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012. There was a return address on it but no company name or anything like that. The envelope contained just a copy of my Citibank statements from June 2011-February 2012 - there were no marking of any kind on the statements and there was no letter indicating that the statements were sent by ARS. The amount on the last statement does match the amount on the original letter I received from ARS. That was the last I heard on the matter until recently.
On June 26, 2012, I received a message on my home voicemail from Credit Control. Credit Control also left me a message on June 29, 2012, July 2, 2012 and today, July 11, 2012. On July 2, 2012, they also called my mother's house and spoke to her. They told her that they could only discuss the matter with my wife or my attorney, so they told my mother to have me call them back. I have not called them back yet.
I received a Dunning letter from Credit Control last week. I have not sent them a debt validation letter yet, but I plan to do so within the next few days.
Is there anything more I should be doing at this point? I do not have the money to pay the debt right now, because I was unemployed for about 7 months and only had enough money to pay my mortgage, car, utilities, etc. I am back to work now though, and I anticipate being able to make some type of monthly payment starting within the next 3 months or so.
I'd obviously like to be able to repair my credit at some point in the future, but I know that my immediate concern is taking care of this matter. Any guidance on how to proceed is greatly appreciated.

I would recommend that you repeat the process you undertook while dealing with ARS and see what Credit Control throws at you. In your DV letter you could additionally ask for a copy of your original credit card contract with your signature on it.
If the DV is positive, call up Credit Control and see if you can set up a payment plan with them. It should work.

I do NOT recommend repeating the process....you will find our self being sued ASAP!! Citibank places their accounts third party...they do not sell them. Citibank is very agressive when it comes to collections and do routinely sue They have validated once (they sent you the statements) and with a single phone call to citi, you can verify that the CA has the placement.

Crap - I just sent the DV letter out this morning! What should I do now? Should I just wait and see what kind of debt validation they send me? Like I said, I'm not really in a position to start a payment program right now but I should be able to do so in about 3 months.
