Hello, I have a PDL from cashnetusa, which i took out in 2006. I looked on their site and I had borrowed 150$ and the balance today is $212.13. There is a note saying it has been sent to collections. I have no problem paying back the $212.13 as this is what i borrowed and agreed to pay (Yes, I know the SOL says I no longer have to). This is the only company that i have dealt with. I got a call from a Westwood Asset Management company about a payday loan from DJR Group LLC. They told me that the principle balance is $1200 on a loan of $200! I do not remember ever using this company, however, they also have a bank account number (not sure if this is correct as I do not have this bank account at the time) that the money was deposited into. The information I got from them was:

Loan was reported to them in May 2012. They said they have 3 collection agencies that tried to contact me and failed. I supposedly took this loan out in Dec of 2007 or 2005 (he said it was smudged on the date), but definately not 2006. In 2005, I was living with my parents and I never did this, and in 2007, the account was closed. I told them the SOL was 4 years and this didnt matter anyway, and they told me I mailed a check in for $5 in 2010 that extended the SOL.

The other problem is that they told me I could settle the debt for 501$ and 43$ today. So of course I did it, and then I looked into everything and nothing looks legit, anywhere. WHAT DO I DO?

Simply put, you fell for a scam and you got taken for $500. That was a clear cut scam given that:

1. Payday lending is illegal in PA
2. You remember never dealing with this company
3. You never sent the $5 check which reset the SoL clock (why would anybody send a $5 check?)
4. The man on the phone must have had somewhat of a weird accent
5. Its was a 42% settlement offer for a debt on which the SoL clock has been reset, which would mean that they could sue you easily for the full $1200 plus court and attorney's fees

CALL and cancel the card NOW and dispute the charge as fraudulent!!

The SOL has expired and the debt is an illegal loan. Send a cease and desist letter to the CA telling them to never contact you again. Report their illegal activities to your state AG's office and the FTC. You will not get in trouble...you were duped!!

Okay so here is the story. Cancelled my card with bank, and thn called that Westwood company to tell them how it is. They told me if i check with that bank then it will prove that I owe money. I told them I don't care, I want a validation of debt in writing sent to me. They said it was all archived and the DJR group will not talk to me because everything is archived. I got off the phone with him and called DJR, who, are very nice and they checked my social and name in all systems, I don't exist. I went to my bank they claimed they put the money in and no record of it, I checked every date for the length of the account. Nothing. I called westwood back and had them transfer me to the guy I dealt with. Before he got a word out I told him "look here this is how it's going to be. I called djr they have no record of me (sir they won't because), shut up and listen, my bank has no record of any transaction by that company at all (maybe the dates are wrong), maybe your an idiot. I checked all dates for the length of the account. Don't ever call me or my family again. Any contact you make with them or myself I will consider harassment, have my lawyer serve you with papers and take you to court to fullest extent of the law. I don't care what you have to say. Thanks, goodbye". Click.

Thanks :)

P.s. the dje group did tell me that unless they can validate a debt its not legal. I don't not have to prove I dont have a debt, they need to prove I do. (which is what I tried telling that guy and he told me that the proof they have is deposit slips, return mail, and contacts, which Is bs)

Glad I could find this post.

I live in IL & This company called me this morning (I almost got them confused with West Asset Management, which I have heard of before). I did not answer the phone and let them leave a message(have not listened to it yet). 10 seconds later the phone at my part time job was ringing and it was a Kate Hamilton asking for me. I played dumb and pretended to be someone else. Miss Hamilton asked when I'd be in next and also went as far to say there was an important matter to deal with that was linked with my social security number.

I will not be calling this company back (I know how difficult it can be to get a word in with these people), but simply sending an email asking for validation of debt to be sent in the mail. I have had my fair share of rough patches and debts and have no problem re-paying them. But it's so frustrating when it seems like every week a different "debt collector"' is coming after me for some "debt".

There is a website associated with this company. I guess that doesn't necessarily make it valid, right?

Hello,

I've been borrowing payday loans for about a year. I've never been late on my payment until now. I have a feeling that they will start annoying me with phone calls so I'm so lucky to find this forum hoping someone out there will help me please.
I borrowed from my first lender so I could make a deposit on a new car, but each time I have to repay, I see myself borrowing from other lenders to pay old lenders. Now I have more than 7 payday loans. I was thinking about a consolidation but I over heard some people are saying it will be weigh too expensive. I want to get out of debt. I want to clean my credit, but I don't know where to start, and I'm scared not to fall victims under those so-called loan consolidation companies who are just taking your money but won't pay the debts. Can somebody help please?
