I just checked my credit report and found two entries I am not familiar with. First, LVNV Funding, shown to have been opened in Nov 2006 as a personal loan, with a high balance of $8973.00 and a remaining balance of $13408.00. Not only do I not recognize LVNV Funding, but I am not aware of a debt in the amount reported. I haven't received phone calls, letters or any type of communication from this company. I live in SC and hope to find a quick resolution to this issue. My credit score is much lower than it was a year ago. I can only assume, but my assumption is LVNV Funding has something to do with that. What do I do now?

Thanks for any help offered.

I have had a charge off. From what I've read here, LVNV buys uncollectible debt, which intentionally causes harm to themselves. I read the statute of limitations information from a link found in one of the posts. I live in SC where the SOL is 10, 10, 3, 3. I stopped paying the debt that was later charged off in 2005. LVNV established the account in November 2006. I do not really understand the SOLs, but hope the 3 years applies to my situation. If so, will the SOL letter have any affect?

Again, thank you for any help anyone offers.

They buy very collectable debt...and they make a lot of money.

What type of debt do you have?
The reporting SOL should be over or almost over based on a 2005 charge off.
