My bank recommended changing my account and issuing me a new one. Supposedly my debit cards will transfer over, and my direct deposits will be rest to change. I am worried about the legalities. Will this force me into legal battles? Or will it help get the payday lenders to settle with me??

Nothing such is going to happen. The only thing that will happen is that you are going to receive a bunch of threating calls which you should ignore with prejudice :)

You are a lucky one, most banks behave like a******s if you so much as ask them about closing an account and opening a new one.

Other than that, tell us the name(s) of your lender, the state you live in and the amount you borrowed from the lender(s).

This should clear up a lot of lingering questions.
