I wish to get rid of my credit card debt. I will have access to some money soon to pay in full if my debt is cut in half. I wish to do this in order to buy a house. I have good credit but too many creditors. I am a veteran. what do you suggest?

If you want to settle the credit card debts, your credit score will take a hit. If you want to preserve your credit score, you will have to pay each card in full. If you don't care about your credit score, you can just go ahead, call your creditors and negotiate a settlement. Its a bargaining game, see what you can pull off. I have seen settlements go as low as 20 percent of the balance owed (on a 6 year old debt).
