What I noticed as I was reading through all of these posts is that a significant number of times a collection was paid off through a collection agency/ bottom feeder (just to get it out of the way.) But that same collection agency turned around and sold those paid off accounts to another collection agency, Midland Credit Management. Why are you advising these people to pay a collection agency when it can be sold again? They're going to end up in the same predicament they are in now but with even less money. The fact is that the law says that no one has the legal right to collect monies from anyone unless they have a written and signed agreement between both parties. No where does the law say one has to pay because they have enough evidence. Evidence means nothing. That in itself is MOB mentality and strong arming which I remind you, are both illegal..

Also, NEVER EVER ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEBT IS YOURS. If it's getting ready to fall off your credit report then your acknowledgment just started your seven years over. Acknowledgment translates to verbally saying it's yours and/or making any kind of payment. When the collector is saying that the statute of limitations (SoL)is up they are meaning it's up for them. They're running out of time to legally collect anything, it's never up for the consumer. In the future I hope you will try and give better advice. People are looking for help, not more problems.

i want the unregistered karen to cite examples of us advising people to just pay a voice over the phone.no made member has advised that.btw if anybody acknowledges a debt doesn't reset any clock,or construe a payment plan.the only bad advice/misinformation posted was karen on the thread she started.
