J & P Check Investigations??
Date: Mon, 07/23/2012 - 10:13
Got a call from these people today. Guy spoke with a very thick accent, but an American southern accent. A search on the phone number (615-732-2862) seems to indicate that they are in Tennessee.
Anyway, they threatened to have an arrest warrant issued if I did not return their call immediately. When I did so, I was transfered to a lady who went into a spiel about how I had this payday loan and since the bank account was closed, the debt was not paid and then the debt was marked uncollectable, but that she was getting ready to file criminal charges against me for check fraud.
I told her in the middle of her speech that she could just stop her nonsense and not bother me with this sh*t again, unless she has somethign she wants to mail to me. I also filed a complaint with the FTC. I do not even remember this loan (Cashjar). I have had them before, but thought they were all paid off. In any case, I am in PA, where I think they are all illegal. I have had numerous calls like this one recently, and it seems like a few of these old debts are being passed from one shady company to another.
I post on here alot (even though for some reason I can not register) so I am 99% sure that I did the right thing, and that I can not be arrested for check fraud as it relates to a payday loan (esp since no check was ever actually written) but the other 1% (worrying) part of me needs one of you experts to confirm this for me please?? :???: thanks!
