Hello everyone!
I have a question and I'm sure the answer is quite simple but I just want to be sure I am doing this properly.

Tiny bit of back story: I have a collection agency bill on my credit report of $1,200. Recently I paid $600 of that to try to shore this thing up and then pay the rest within a month or so.

I have a remainder of $600 to pay. I am willing to pay that in full. I don't think that when I do that it will be "deleted" off of my credit report. I read that you can do a "pay to delete" form and mail that in. My problem is I've already "accepted responsibility" for this debt and paid on it. Will it do me any good to send in this form? Is there anything else I need to know before I go shooting myself in the foot again? Do I have to contact the original company that I owed before collections?

I would appreciate any help with this matter.

I'm just saying, you're paying a collection agency, not the original creditor. You may know the original debt with the original creditor is yours but, how can you be sure this collection agency owns it now? How can you be sure the balance they're asking for is the correct balance?

You should never pay a collection agency without first obtaining debt validation.
