complaints...
I did file with the FTC... I haven't heard back from them at all. As far as the AG goes, the Nevada Financial Institutions Division handles all of the complaints. The AG's office doesn't handle them at all, and if that's the wrong info, I can't find any information at all. I hear in Nevada, its hard to fight these kind of things. So I guess I'm stuck with paying these guys for another year, unless someone else has advice on what to do next...
If they really are licensed in your state and are a legal lender
If they really are licensed in your state and are a legal lender as far as Nevada is concerned, then I believe that you have no choice but to keep paying them, much like California residents who take out loans with Cash Call. Your can try to negotiate with Cash Call to see if they will either settle for a lump sum or lower your interest rate, which in my experience they will do if 1) you have paid over the principal and 2) you tell them that the current payment arrangements present a financial hardship for you. I would double and triple check that they aren't licensed though because as far as I was aware, the only state they were licensed in is California.
problem is...
The problem is the loan originated through Western Sky, which I guess is an illegal lender in every State but the state I live in which is Nevada. This woman I spoke to with the Nevada Financial Institutions Division said that Tribal Lenders are not illegal, and since it is an affiliate of Cash Call which is licensed its ok for Cash Call to collect from my understanding. If anyone else has any other input that would help out a lot!
The business license does show up when I search cash call. I just don't understand how Nevada makes this ok. Western Sky is not licensed, but its ok because it was sold to Cash Call? That's crap...
