first off, calling you to collect on a debt that is owed is not "harrassment" no matter how you feel. If they are not calling and actually TALKING to you more than once a day and no more than once every 5 days, they can actively call you every day up to 7 times a day. You do OWE the debt. Look at it this way...what if you lent someone money then they turned around and said they didnt have the money to pay you...would you stop calling??? If you want the phone calls to stop, ask for a verbal cease and desist and send a cease and desist letter to them. This will stop the phone calls but you will STILL owe the debt and keep in mind that this is reflecting on your credit report.
I dont understand how calling the police would be necessary when
I dont understand how calling the police would be necessary when you could have sent a cease and desist letter. If this is a valid debt, they will probably turn around and simply sue you.
