Thank you. How do I file a dispute? Would I dispute the transaction through my bank? I intend to go into my bank tomorrow and request they stop the scheduled $160.00 withdrawal as well as dispute the transaction of $50.00
I am not sure what to tell Nationwide when I call them tomorrow. Simply that I wont pay the remainder of the balance they are requesting, because I believe they are scamming me? Someone mentioned they can affect my credit or influence my credit score is this true?

What is the phone number? These guys tried to come after my father for nonexistant debts under the name "Nationwide" just a few weeks ago. We will see if it's the same number. If so, then definitely a scam.
The fact is, if you truly owed these guys something, they would have sent you something in writing and provided you with details as to who you owed and what it was for. They chose not to. If they put anything on your credit (highly doubtful), then you can take legal action against them.Not sure if your situation was similar, but my father was sent an email by them asking for 650.00, then the calls started. They reached my grandparent's stating that they were NYS Legal Enforcers looking for my father (my grandfather is a retired judge and told them to stick it as soon as he heard "legal enforcers") and then they called my cell phone numerous times looking for my dad as well...
Did you pay them with a debit card or a credit card? If it was with your credit card, call up and file a dispute - easy. If it was with the debit card, you'll have to go into the bank and file a claim with your bank manager. These guys are scamming you plain and simple do not pay them a cent and get your 50 back.

Don't call them at all. Stay off the phone and if they call you again, use an airhorn or blast loud music. Take soaplady's advise. These people are persuasive and might convince you of some garbage over the phone.

I don't have their with number with me, but I believe it started something with 888... I can try to retrieve it, and post it as soon as I do retrieve it. When they call me, they call me from a restricted number, though they do leave me their number in a voicemail if I don't answer.
What happened to your dad, is very similar to what happened to me. They called several of my family members, non-stop, claiming to be Legal Enforcers, looking for me, and they wanted my address to deliver Legal papers to me. I told my sister to not give anyone my address, she didn't, though they finally got me to answer my phone, and fed me their story which I believed. I thought they were Legit because they called themselves Legal Enforcers, and even had a case number, and for someone that does not know much about Law, Debt Collectors, or Credit, for someone calling themselves Legal Enforcers, and being so forceful, and bring up a possible Court Hearing, their story is pretty believable. Later my sister told me that these same people were looking for my mom, trying to get her to pay something as well, and I know for a face that my mom has payed and is paying her debts.
I payed with a Debit Card, and they have my card on file. I will be going to my bank early tomorrow to file a claim with my bank manager.

you really should do that today.why?because now that you asked for more time.that's a red flag to this bottomfeeding slime.do not trust them.at the least if you have online banking keep tabs today.make sure nothing is debited suspicously.again i would really try to do this today if possible though.

As I mentioned, a payment is scheduled for tomorrow, though I went in today to my bank cancelled my card, and filled a dispute. A representative of my bank told me that it was unlikely that I would win the dispute because I gave my card willingly. I explained to him again that I was scammed, though we will see what happens. If Nationwide keeps harassing me, (calling me and my family, even threatening) what should I do?

Your banker is screwing you over. You don't actually owe this merchant anything and you should fight for your 50 dollars back. There is no service or product being provided to you. When you make an online purchase with a debit card, they are processed as credit which grants you a massive amount of protections; especially with a mastercard over a visa. Did you tell the banker they were threatening you on the phone?

I went into the bank and was transferred to a representative on the phone, they gave me a temporary $50 credit but said it may be taken back within 7 days if my dispute is declined.

Just a future note to everyone - this is why you should use a regular credit card and not a debit card to purchase higher cost and riskier things online.

The funny thing is when they went after my grandparents, they called from the same number and claimed to be "NYS Legal Enforcers" when they called me on my cell phone claiming to be with "Legal group law firm". Not even a well planned scam. Least they could do is get different numbers!!
