Like many others, I fell into the trap of taking out multiple payday loans with this company. First off, their customer service is terrible, they don't respond to emails, their live chat is useless. I've been taking out these loans since the earlier part of 2012. I will list all of them and total amount paid below. I just found out today that PDL's are illegal in North Carolina(where I live), and my totals in interest are almost identical to the current "debt" that I owe.

The amounts:

Financed Total Paid
$225 $296.96
$200 $239.96
$300 $359.94
$650 $779.88
$150 $179.98(With an Additional $29.00 NSF fee)
$300 $359.94
$900 $1079.82
$150 $179.98
$100 $119.98
$300 $359.94
$400 $479.92
$1100 $1379.78

Total amount in interest: $1014.10
NSF Fees:$79.00

I've recently had more bills I had to pay and financed an additional $1200.00 loan that was due Friday(Add $50.00 in NSF fees)

A few questions:
1. Are they licensed, and if so, can I be sued?
2. Which course of action should I take?
3. Where is this company geographically?
4. Additional Useful Information(what to do about phone calls, etc.)

Payday lending is prohibited in North Carolina. You owe principal only. No need to pay them an extra dime other than the principal. Close down your old bank account and open a new one. Ask them for a refund as you have overpaid them. Visit the following link to know how to deal with illegal lenders: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/dealingwith-illegallenders.html

To Whom It May Concern with the 247 Greenstreet Organization:

It has been brought to my attention that lenders must be licensed by the State of North Carolina in order to offer loans to its residents. Payday loans are prohibited by North Carolina State law. Therefore, your company is not licensed in my state and the loan contracts that I have signed with your company is void. The laws of another state; better yet, country do not apply to a resident that has laws that prohibit lenders of payday loans.

Collecting the information from my past loans took a significant amount of time, effort, and patience. Your company apparently does not believe that access to a file of loan records would be a valuable commodity for your customers to have in their possession.

However, after collecting this data, I made a chart(below) that labels the amount I financed including the total payments that I have made and the NSF charges that should have never taken place. I have bank statements, emails, etc. that clearly signify that I have paid off past loans and even made unnecessary payments to an illegal practice as defined by North Carolina State Law.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Financed Total Paid
$225 $296.96
$200 $239.96
$300 $359.94
$650 $779.88
$150 $179.98 -------- (Additional $29.00 NSF fee) (07/13/12)
$300 $359.94
$900 $1079.82
$150 $179.98
$100 $119.98
$300 $359.94
$400 $479.92
$1100 $1379.78

Total Interest: $1014.10
NSF Fees: $89.00

Total Amount: $1103.10

Most Recent Amount Financed: $1250.00

Principle Amount To Pay : $146.90
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although I'm not required to do so, I am willing to repay what is left of the principal amount. I will make two payments via Western Union or Money gram to a location of your choice.

BE ADVISED :

I will NOT use any other form communication to discuss the principal amount that is left to be paid except email. You will find no success with the number given of my employer because I have already notified my boss to automatically terminate any conversation that involves myself. Along with my employer, do not contact family, friends, acquaintances that you illegally obtain from other payday loan companies, or anyone that is associated with me in any fashion. This is harassment and will be reported as such to the appropriate organizations in the event that it takes place.

I am also revoking authorization for ACH withdrawals and any wage assignment I may have signed. I have given a copy of these revocations to both my bank and my employer. Any future attempts to collect funds in this manner will be blocked.
Please respond to this email with acknowledgment that my account has been satisfied in full.

Does this sound ok, or have I left something out?

There will be two payments of $73.45 sent to a recipient that you provide. They will be sent on Friday October 12th and Friday October 26th. After this these two payments are sent, I expect my account to be permanently deleted and marked as complete. If you fail to provide all of the appropriate details of the payment recipient, by the time specified, I will assume that my account has been labeled as paid in full and deleted.
