A few days ago on Friday, I came home from running errands to find a sticky note from UPS hanging on my front door. The note said the sender required a signature at the time of delivery & that they will attempt to deliver again on Monday(which is now today).

I looked up the InfoNotice number on the note to look at the tracking information. It looks like it's a package that weighs just over 1 pound and it was sent via UPS ground. It doesn't say on the note or online who the package is from. I'm in Maine & I can see that it looks like the package first started it's "journey" to me from Mobile, Alabama. It's been quite some time since I've ordered anything online & I don't know anyone from that area so it's definitely not a family member or friend sending me some sort of gift.

I'm really freaking out now because I'm scared it might be a subpoena or summons from either an attorney or a debt collection agency as I'm currently in default with 3 different payday loans. However, all three of them are illegal lenders in my state. I've heard though that it doesn't always stop them from taking you to court or at least threatening to do so. I also read online earlier that sometimes debt collectors will require you to sign for a package or letter as a way to ensure they have the correct address for you so that they can then go ahead and serve you with a court summons. Plus, I've heard that some of these debt collectors can be pretty awful and have even been known in rare cases to send the debt collectors right to your home to bang on your door and demand your money.

So, what should I do?? Do you guys think I should sign for the package when UPS tries to redeliver it tomorrow or would that be a big mistake since then I'm giving god knows who confirmation of where me (and my child) live??

Just wanted to let you all know that I signed for the package today. Much to my relief, it had absolutely nothing to do with any PD loans or bill collectors! It was actually a book that came in the mail for my daughter. Phew! What a huge relief! I feel pretty silly now that I was practically ready to have a nervous break down before the package came. Funny how sometimes our minds tend to automatically assume the worst.
