I am recieving calls from National Recovery they are saying they are with the state of Nevada where I lived 2 years ago. I had taken out a payday loan in 2010. In 2010 I was mugged and severely beaten, my purse was stolen. I had to close my bank account associated with the payday loan company and I contacted them immediately to let them know. I also ended up loosing my job as a result from post tramatic stress. 2 years later National recovery contacts me saying they are with the state of Nevada and they are contacting me to let me know my wages are going to be garnished, my drivers license suspended and I will be arrested for check fraud. I don't have the money at this time to pay back the loan I am just getting over the stress of court and trial to sentence the guy that mugged me. My question is can National Recovery do any of the things they are threatening to do to me? The number they called me from is 678-825-6162 when I looked it up it is in Atlanta GA not Nevada which is where they say they are calling from. What if anything can I do?

Who did you originally borrow from?
You need to ignore these people and concentrate on the stuff that matters. National Recovery is a scam outfit and the bits about your driver license and jail time are plain BS. Do not fall for them. Debts are civil, not criminal, you cannot be convicted of fraud or any such crap. What you need to do is ask NR for their physical address and send them a C&D letter. If they refuse, hang up on them, ignore further calls and file complaints with the AG, the FTC and the county cops.

Yeah…they are completely scammers. They are just trying to scare you. Don’t share any personal information with them. Next time if they call you back, hang up on them.

only the SECRETARY OF STATE can authorize suspension,or revocation of your license, and it is only when unpaid tickets,or other matters involoving your vehicle.it will not be touched because of a possible illegal pdl.report and ignore.
