My state is Indiana and I recieved a call at my work regarding a possible wage garnishment for an unpaid payday loan she said was back in 2008 or before she didnt know? She said the loan was for "cashtoday"? Now the loan is for $900.00. She told me that they have sent documentation in the mail (not true) and told me that the only way she could stop it would be for me to either give her my debit card info or go buy a prepaid debit card. I told her that I was not going to give her my card info and got very mad at me and tried real hard to intemidate me, didnt work. I've gone for years and haven't heard a word from these scums about any of my old payday loans from about 6-7 years ago until yesterday. She then told me that she woul have to speak to my payroll person to get the wage garnishment set up. I know that the company is unlicensed in Indiana, can they still still try to garnish my wages? I am not sure if I signed a wage assignment or not. Like stated above, these loans were back in 2006-2007. The number was 218--600--1714. Any help would be great! Thanks! Should I be worried?

They sound like a scam bottom feeding collector... I would give a copy to my payroll and ignore them, tell them you are a victim of fraud, which is what sounds like. They have to validate the debt in writing..they must show proof..Do you have a name for this supposed company?

Do you have their physical address - mail them one and still give a copy no matter what to your payroll department. They need to be sending you something in writing anyway to verify the debt is even with them and for what.

they can't garnish without a court order.hard to get in a state where they are illlegal.they can submit a wage assignment.go to SOAPLADY'S signature on dealing with illegal lenders.there is a wage assignment revocation letter.also avoid speaking to these losers as you state the loan was illegal and they know it.so to summarize get a revocation letter to your HR or payroll person, and inform them that a scammer will be calling.then ignore their sorry ass.a complete bottomfeeding joke that won't do jack but threaten and harrass.

Hate to bug you again but I got a call again from the same "company" . This time she told me that I signed a wage assignment and that it was totally different and that my payroll department didnt need a court order to garnish my wages. I will be sending one to my payroll department on monday but can they use that against me? The was done online. She told me that didnt matter. Help!! Thanks!

They have a wage assignment, not a garnishment. A garnishment requires a court order, a wage assignment is voluntary does not...and it can be revoked at any time.

Email and/or fax them the following...give a copy to your payroll department.
Dear _____________
I hereby revoke any and all voluntary wage assignments I may have signed on account #______________ effective immediately.

Govern yourself accordingly.

don't worry about the idiots.just do as helpinaz states and gove the revocation letter to your HR/PAYROLL person, and ignore them.btw if this is a bottomfeeder and not a the lender then any wage assignments are not valid as only the original lender can invoke a wage assignment.they are not transferable.therefore that's the reason the ex-hooker won't give info.just get the letter to your person asap.
